We’ve put together a draft Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) and we’re inviting you to have your say.

The SCI is an important document that explains how we plan to involve you in shaping future planning decisions, both when we create or update planning policy documents (including the new Local Plan) and when we assess planning applications. It also sets out how we’ll work with communities and partners to support neighbourhood plans and development proposals.

While there’s no legal requirement to consult on this document, we believe strongly in involving the community from the very beginning. This is your chance to help shape how we communicate, consult, and work with you on future planning matters.

What is the Statement of Community Involvement?

The SCI outlines:

  • How we will engage with residents, businesses, and stakeholders in preparing planning policies.
  • The ways you can get involved in planning applications that affect your community.
  • Support available for neighbourhood planning groups and community-led development projects.

We want the process of planning to be as open, accessible, and inclusive as possible, and we know that starts with listening to your views.
