We are currently reviewing our sport and leisure offer across the district to ensure it meets the needs of, and delivers health and wellbeing benefits for, our communities.
Earlier this year (2025) we invited residents and organisations from across Wealden to have their say on leisure opportunities in the district via surveys and workshops. We received more than nine hundred responses and are incredibly thankful to all the residents, young people, and community organisations that took part. A summary report of the findings from these surveys and workshops is available to view here.
The findings show a clear appetite for healthier lifestyles, with over three quarters (77%) of residents saying they would like to be more active, and many highlighting the need for a wider range of activities available closer to home. Affordability, accessibility, inclusivity, and well run and maintained facilities also featured strongly in responses.
We are keen to involve residents and local organisations so that we can design a service that helps our communities to lead active, healthy lifestyles.
This feedback will directly help us to:
Shape the new Leisure Centre Contract and define what services we need from our three leisure centres in Crowborough, Hailsham and Uckfield.
Inform a refreshed Health & Wellbeing Strategy (External link) that will guide how services are delivered in the future and reflect our community’s needs and priorities.
