🌳 Why Trees Matter in Wealden
Let’s Talk Trees has been created as a space to raise awareness of how we protect the trees that make Wealden special with a space for you to share ideas, ask a question and have your say.
Trees are at the heart of Wealden’s natural beauty, providing essential benefits for our environment, wildlife, and communities. They clean our air, capture carbon, prevent flooding, and support a rich variety of plants and animals. As our climate changes, protecting trees has never been more important.
Beyond their environmental impact, trees shape the character of our towns and villages, offering shade, shelter, and spaces for relaxation and recreation. They enhance mental well-being and boost biodiversity.

*The easiest way to find out whether trees are affected by Tree Preservation Orders or are within a Conservation Area is to use our Online Map.
The Tree Preservation Order data mapped is indicative only. It must not be used as verification that any tree is protected. You can request a copy of the Order by emailing planning.information@wealden.gov.uk and quoting the TPO Number.
To use the mapping system follow these simple steps:
Find the location using the map or use the search function located at the top of the map
Using the left hand menu ‘What would you like to do?’, select ‘Map Features’ and click on ‘Planning’. You can then check the box next to the option ‘TPO’s’.
The Conservation data is held under the option ‘Heritage and Conservation’.
