About the Project
The new Mayfield Community and Health Centre is a major regeneration project that will provide a modern, purpose‑built health centre and community facility for the parish of Mayfield and Five Ashes.
The scheme is being delivered in partnership by Wealden District Council and Mayfield & Five Ashes Parish Council in response to long‑standing pressure on local healthcare services and the need for improved community facilities.
Following a successful redesign and approval process, construction is now underway, with completion anticipated in May 2027. A ground-breaking ceremony was held in July 2026 to mark this significant milestone in the project.
The new facility will provide:
A modern community hall
A community hub
Flexible office Space
A new health centre incorporating four GP consulting rooms, three treatment rooms, a waiting area and associated support spaces
Accessible parking and electric vehicle charging points.
High-quality landscaping designed to complement the character of the High Weald
The existing Memorial Hall has now been demolished and enabling works have been completed, included drainage improvements, resurfacing works and construction of the upper car park infrastructure. The project has now moved into the main construction phase.
When complete, the building will provide modern healthcare facilities alongside a flexible community space, creating a focal point for residents and supporting the long-term future of local services.
The project has been carefully designed to respect the sensitive landscape and historic character of the area while providing facilities that meet the needs of current and future generations.
The construction contract has been awarded to Sunninghill Construction, a Sussex-based contractor, which is delivering the build on behalf of the partners.
