Wealden District Council is seeking views on a proposal to lease a small section of land at Jarvis Brook Recreation Ground to Artytime, a local volunteer-led community arts group.

This proposal forms part of the Council’s ongoing approach to support community-led initiatives and ensure that public spaces continue to deliver social and wellbeing benefits for residents.

About the Proposal

We are proposing to include an area of land (outlined in red on the site plan) within a potential new lease arrangement with Artytime. This follows recent changes to the existing lease arrangements between the Council and Crowborough Town Council.

Any potential expansion would support the group to build on its existing work and make its activities accessible to more people locally. This is an early-stage proposal and no decision has been made.

About Artytime

Artytime is a well-established, volunteer-led community group currently based at Jarvis Brook Recreation Ground. The group provides:

  • Creative activities for people of all ages
  • Access to affordable, recycled craft materials
  • Opportunities for community participation and skills development

The proposed expansion would support the group to build on its existing work and make its activities accessible to more people locally.

What This Could Mean

If approved, the proposal would:

  • Support the growth of a local community organisation
  • Enable increased access to creative and inclusive activities
  • Enhance the use of part of the recreation ground for community-focused purposes

The wider recreation ground would remain available for public use.
