We (Rother and Wealden District Councils) are inviting comments on our Statement of Licensing Policy 2026.
Under the Licensing Act 2003, the Council is required to review its Licensing Policy every five years. The policy explains how the Council carries out its licensing duties and provides guidance for:
Applicants
Responsible authorities
Local residents and other interested parties
It sets out the Council’s general approach to licensing decisions involving:
The sale of alcohol
Regulated entertainment
Late-night refreshment
What is changing?
No changes are proposed to the existing 2021 Licensing Policy, other than updates to contact details and minor administrative information.
This consultation is being carried out to meet legal requirements and to allow residents and stakeholders the opportunity to comment on the policy.
Consultation Period The consultation will run for 6 weeks, from 7 January to 18 February 2026.
