About the Proposal
This application comprises a National Grid battery storage facility and ancillary equipment on land south of Boreham Hill, Boreham Street.
This includes a secure compound surrounded by a 4m acoustic fence along the northern boundary of the site, and a 2.4m high weldmesh fence along the eastern, southern and western boundaries of the Site, with CCTV security cameras.
The Site would be accessed via the existing access off Boreham Hill, to the north west. Construction traffic would use the same access route. The point of connection for the scheme into the national grid would be at an existing pylon off Boreham Lane, circa 2km south west of the Site. The grid connection cable route runs from the compound, along the proposed access road up to Boreham Hill. The cable route then follows Boreham Hill, before heading south along Boreham Lane to the point of connection.
The proposal would be capable of importing (storing) electricity from the grid at times of excess supply in the system and exporting it back to the grid at times of high demand / reduced generation capacity. It is referred to by National Grid as a ‘balancing service’ at times of system stress.
There is a calculated net gain +1.44 BU for area habitats, equivalent to +22.3% associated with the current development proposals
There is a calculated net gain of +0.49 BU for linear habitats, equivalent to +87.59%., associated with the current development proposals
