Teacher Resources: There's lots of ways for your class to get involved.
1. Half term activity sheet
Hand out the Food Waste Competition flyer / activity sheet for pupils to complete over the half-term holiday. When they return, the class can vote for their favourite suggested name, and the teacher can submit this.
2. Classroom activity
Use one of the lesson plans provided to run a class discussion about food waste, why collecting it is important, and how we can reduce it. The activity ends with pupils creating name suggestions and voting on their favourite, which will be submitted by their teacher.
Share this News Article in your school newsletter to encourage families to talk about food waste at home and to get the children to think about creative names to put forward.
4. Assembly
Run an Assembly plan on food waste and the new collections. If you’d like, we can look to arrange for a local councillor to visit and give a talk to your pupils about why food waste matters. Please let us know if this would be of interest to you and we’ll do our best to set it up.
