The first stage of our naming competition has now closed.


Thank you to everyone who submitted suggestions for the names of our new food waste collection trucks. All entries have been reviewed, and a shortlist of 20 names has now been selected, as below:

We are now entering the second phase of the competition. Residents can choose their ultimate favourite from the list. The class who submitted the winning name will receive a visit to their school from their named truck.

    1. The competition is open to all residents across Wealden, Rother and Hastings.
    2. All 20 shortlisted names will be displayed on one of the new Biffa food waste collection trucks, which will operate across Wealden, Rother and Hastings.
    3. The winner will be decided by a count-up on the day after the deadline.
    4. No votes will be accepted past 6pm on 31 January 2026.
    5. The prize is awarded conditionally upon acceptance. If the winner is unable to be contacted after 20 days or if any prize is unclaimed or declined within a reasonable period, the prize shall be deemed as unclaimed or unaccepted and a supplementary winner may be drawn at the East Sussex Joint Waste Partnership's discretion.
    6. Entrant’s data will be collected, stored and processed for the purposes of administering and assessing this competition. 
    7. Any winner decision is final, and the East Sussex Joint Waste Partnership reserve the right to suspend, postpone, cancel, or amend the competition and / or review and revise these terms and conditions.
